ACCIDENTS 2007
« on: 20 February 2007 at 08:13 »
A Shuttle America (Delta Connection) EMB-170 ran off the end of a runway and into a fence in CLE on Sunday, February 18th.

According to CNN (and plenty of media by now) Flight 6448 (ATL-CLE) carried 70 passengers and 4 crew members.

The EMB-170 registration was N862RW (MSN 17000098).

Fortunately no one was injured.  :)

Here are some pictures of the accident reported by nmejiab:

http://www.eltiempo.com/multimedia/galerias/avinsantamarta/GALERIAFOTOS-WEB-PLANTILLA_GALERIAFOTOS-3643146.html?id_recurso=3643146&id_articulo=3642962

The plane was covering the Cali-Santa Marta route, which started just a few days ago (July 13th); in fact this was the third flight in the route. Recent reports state the plane was carrying 59 people (54 passengers, 5 flight crew) and that it was raining heavily at the time of the landing.

As you can see in the pictures, the plane actually ended up in the beach.

The aircraft in question seems to be HK-4455X, serial number 190.00076, delivered back in March 2007 (in fact, it is the most recent E190 in Aerorepublica's fleet).

More news should develop in the following hours/days.

Today is a difficult day for aviation in Latin America... a brazilian A320 had an accident this evening at Sao Paulo and it seems to be much worse than the one suffered by Aerorepublica.

Hi, confirming the information posted yesterday and adding a few additional facts:

Flight number was Aerorepublica 7330.
Route was Cali-Santa Marta.
There were 54 passengers and 5 crew members on board.
A total of seven persons received medical assistance, but none of them are seriously injured.
Airplane involved was HK-4455X, serial number 190.00076.

Here's a link to Aerorepublica's press release (sorry, Spanish only):

Is the aircraft really a total written-off?

Dear viasa:

I had the idea that the aircraft was a total written-off, until the Aerorepublica Embraer crashed yesterday and a member of an Argentinean Aviation Forum related both accidents, and posted some pictures of the REPAIR of Shuttle America's E170  :o

Pictures can be found at the excellent OPSHOTS website, here are the links:

http://www.opshots.net/gallery/displayimage.php?pos=-5038
http://www.opshots.net/gallery/displayimage.php?pos=-5025

According to the OPSHOTS Forum, the aircraft is not going to be written off. A nose-replacement is being performed, comprising the flight deck. One of the members noted the aircraft should be airborne by late September, however it is said that Shuttle America does not anticipate that aircraft back in service.

I hope you find it useful, bye!

Hello. A member of an Argentinean aviation Forum posted some pictures of Aerorepublica's E190 which suffered an accident at Santa Marta some two months ago; I believe the pictures are recent. Please visit (scroll down the page):

I do not know anything on structural damage, but hopefully someone here can comment on it. Hey, it was a really hard hit...

Have an excellent week.

FlyBe has 2 subsequent flaps failure incidents
« Reply #11 on: 24 November 2007 at 12:51 »
FlyBe E195's have experienced two flaps failures, even on flights to the same Belfast (UK/Northern Ireland) airport. The first occurred 21NOV and the second 23NOV. In the first incident the aircraft landed with 0 flaps. Sources in the pilots' forum PPrune say that in extreme cases the loss of the electrically driven flaps on an E195 may require a +60 kts higher landing speed, which theoretically requires a 2.48 times longer runway.

Frequent flaps and flaps indicator failures on the EJets failures are also being reported from sources within LOT and Finnair.

one time, listening the JFK frequency on LIVEATC, i've listening a JetBlue EMB190 with flaps jammed (don't know if it was between two positions or at zero).
Some procedures and checklists later, the aircraft landed with flaps still jammed.

Accidents do occur in any way and any place. Aside from plane crash, people also experience car accidents. Car accidents can cause miseries in our lives if it happens.
